Cultists kill Bowen student for rejecting sexual advances

The life of a 17-year-old student of Bowen University, Opeyemi Odusanya, has been cut short by some cult members in Lagos. It was gathered that the undergraduate was murdered for allegedly rejecting sexual advances from some youths in the area and also for "being too proud." PUNCH Metrolearnt that the victim was a 300 level student of Biochemistry at the university. Police authorities told our correspondent that Opeyemi was stabbed to death by the cultists at her parents' house in the Alakuko area of Lagos on February 3, 2014. Operatives of the police force in Lagos have arrested four persons, including a pastor and a doctor, on suspicion of armed robbery. The gang, specialized, in vandalizing and stealing from Automated Teller Machines (ATM), are said to have been linked to a robbery last year which left 3 policemen dead. The doctor said that he planned to use the money gotten to renew his practice licence while the pastor admitted that he joined the gang through a friend. Vanguard reports: This came as seven more AK-47 rifles, two K-2 rifles, one pump action and 17 AK-47 magazines, fully loaded, were recovered by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja, at one of the gang's hideouts in Egbeda area of Lagos. Armed robber falls and dies after stealing N1700

A suspected armed robber in Oyo didn't have to wait very long to meet up with Karma after robbing a family within the state. The unidentified man is said to have brandished an axe and a knife while robbing his victims, a mother and her daughter, who were resident in the Ayetoro Oroki area of Oyo town. The robber is said to have stabbed the daughter but in an attempt to escape from the scene, he slipped and fell leading to his subsequent death. The Tribune reports: The armed robber, whose identity was unknown, it was learnt, invaded the residence of the woman at about 2a.m. armed with an axe and a knife. In order to instill fear in his victims, the armed man was said to have stabbed the woman's daughter on the head with a knife, after which he collected their phones and a sum of N1,700. A 15-year old school boy is recovering after an attacker slit his throat while trying to rob him in South Africa. Reports say, the Grade 10 pupil of Cape High school, South Africa, needed 18 stitches and six stitches to save his life. It was gathered that the boy was returning from school when his attacker accosted him,cut his throat and made off with the boy's money. iOL News reports: Education MEC Donald Grant's spokeswoman, Bronagh Casey, confirmed on Tuesday that "a Grade 10 learner was attacked on Monday afternoon after he was accosted by a man with a knife".
